Indonesia's Semen Gresik To Build New Cement Plant
State-owned cement makers PT Semen Gresik said it plans to build a new cement factory to increase its capacity to meet growing demand for the building material.
The plan will be proposed in a shareholders meeting scheduled on June 30, 2005, its Finance Director Cholil Hasan said on Monday.
The new factory will have a production capacity of 2 million tons and construction is expected to start next year, Cholil said.
He said the company may issue bonds and use bank loan to finance the project estimated to cost US$350 million.
The country's largest cement maker had a 45 per cent share or 16 million tons of cement sales on the domestic market in 2004.
